If only these worked anywhere nearly as easily.
Change recessed light to pendant light.
Better safe than sorry.
Step 1 gather all the supplies and remove the light bulb from the recessed light fixture.
Screw that into the socket.
2 unscrew the recessed light bulb from the can light and then remove the trim kit typically this round trim piece just snaps in and out.
Unscrew the lightbulbs from the recessed fixture.
Screw the prewired socket adapter into the recessed fixture.
Unless the can for the recessed light is fixed to the framing of your house or at the very least to your ceiling the pendant light will pull the can out of the ceiling eventually.
If not when you install the pendant then eventually as gravity works on it and temperature and humidity fluctuate.
It is basically a screw on light bulb without the bulb but with wires.
Preassemble the mounting bracket which will support the new pendant light.
Turn off the electricity to the light fixture circuit at the main electrical panel.
1 turn off the breaker for the light you will be working on.
Install recessed fixture converter.
Step 2 open the recessed light conversion kit.
The design is horrendous and dangerous.
Disconnect and remove the trim from the recessed fixture.
